This has been a real learning experience here. Physically it is a stunning place. The mountains surround the city like a great wall of protection. With such grandness of creation around you would think people would see it and stand in awe of the one who created it. I took a day off from ministering to the people here and went to explore some of the city and see the beauty of the city. The bay area of Vancouver was stunning and filled with excitement because of the Olympics.
As I walked I heard at least ten different languages in use and was struck by how creative God is. You know He is the only God who speaks all languages and makes up others for the fun of communication. I believe the Jews only talk to God in Hebrew and I know that the Muslims only speak to Allah in Arabic. Anyways, I’m way off track from where I was intending to go with this.
Spiritually, Vancouver is a very dark city. I was amazed at how closed people are to hearing or even receiving God’s love. They seem open to EVERYTHING, but Christ in this city. It is the first time I have seen a large group of people openly involved in worship of other gods and no one sees that they are actually worshiping other gods other than my small group that I was with and the leaders of the worship. The Natives of this land are holding fast to the little control they have of this land and are worshiping the eagle. You would think that in this western world people would see animal worship and say that it was at least opposed to God and belief in Jesus if not see that it was wrong. People’s eyes are blind and they do not want to see anymore.
I went to Stanley Park on my day off and saw the totem poles that the natives built. All of them had the eagle on them. On the signs in front of them it said that the totem poles “were not idols nor were they worshiped” it lead me to believe that the totem poles had nothing to do with spirituality. However, on a sign next to that one it said “Our art comes from spirituality.” IE the Natives did use this art and did make the art with spiritual purposes. The natives are worshiping “mother eagle” and asking for it to bring healing and have healing fires in certain areas of town. The enemy is disguising himself like an angel of light yet he will not stand. God lead us to these places and put it on our hearts to reclaim the territory that the enemy is trying to take. We have taken it back and God directed us to the heart of the enemy camp. God is already victorious over Vancouver! Pray for the church to rise up and take possession of the city God has placed them in. They need a passion resurrected in them for the name of Jesus.
